COVENANTS

On 30 June 2016, the first "Antibiotics Covenant" was signed by the Federal Government and all relevant sector partners regarding the reduction in the use of antibiotics in the animal sector. The first Antibiotics Covenant included the reduction targets from the AMCRA Vision 2020 and was signed by the Minister for Public Health, the Minister for Agriculture, and the various partners involved in the use of antibiotics in veterinary medicine (agricultural organisations, veterinarian associations, the pharmaceutical industry association, the feed manufacturer's association, standards management bodies, animal health organisations, and others).

In order to continue this cooperation, which has proved its effectiveness, a "second Covenant" has been signed for the period 2021-2024 with the various actors committing themselves, together with the public authorities, to achieving new reduction targets while maintaining a low level of use for the critical antibiotics.
