The joint communication moment of the AMCRA, FAVV, FAGG, FPS Public Health and Sciensano on the results of antibiotic use and resistance in animals has taken place on Friday morning 20 June 2025.

This year, the information event has been organised exclusively as a physical meeting in Brussels.

PRESENTATIONS


tIn the morning the results of antibiotic sales and use rates in animals in Belgium in 2024 were presented. Sales data were presented in the light of the Vision 2024 reduction targets. All antibiotic sales and use data are published in the BelVet-SAC report 2024.

For the first time, antibiotic resistance data from diseased dogs, cats and horses were presented during the annual communication moment. 

Explanations were then also given about results on antibiotic resistance collected from commensal indicator bacteria (Gram-negative indicator E. coli and Gram-positive indicator Enterococcus spp.) isolated from food-producing animals, followed by.antibiotic resistance results in bacteria from diseased animals.
